CALABASAS, Los Angeles County — October 24, 2026. Calabasas has officially expanded its city boundaries. On August 17, 2026, the Los Angeles County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) recorded the annexation of most of the Craftsman’s Corner neighborhood just north of the Ventura Freeway between Calabasas and Hidden Hills. This is a completed boundary change, not merely an application or a proposed sphere of influence.

What territory joined Calabasas?

The city’s official annexation resource describes a joint reorganization involving about 145 acres and 85 parcels designated for Calabasas and a smaller portion for Hidden Hills. Earlier city communications characterized the overall area as approximately a quarter square mile. Final parcel boundaries should be checked against the recorded LAFCO map rather than guessed from a neighborhood name or mailing address.

What changes for residents?

People in the annexed area may now participate in Calabasas city elections, public hearings, boards and local-government decisions, and access eligible municipal programs. The city becomes the relevant authority for many planning and zoning questions. Property owners who started a permit application with Los Angeles County before the change should contact Calabasas Community Development about its transfer or continued validity.

What stays the same?

The city states that street addresses and ZIP codes do not change because of the annexation. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and Los Angeles County Fire Department continue providing public-safety services, while schools, utilities and waste-hauling arrangements are generally unchanged. Existing county-issued discretionary approvals remain subject to their original conditions. The city also says it has no general business-license program, although new businesses still need appropriate zoning approvals.

Why now?

According to Calabasas’s August 18 announcement, the latest annexation follows a roughly 12-year coordinated process that included tax-revenue negotiations and LAFCO proceedings. The city says the area was not included in its 1991 incorporation. Residents should consult the zoning and boundary resources to determine how individual parcels are affected.
