CALABASAS, California — A Southern California Edison project to move selected electrical lines underground along Cold Canyon Road is scheduled to continue into December 2026, according to the city’s public notices.
What the project involves
In its August 2026 city e.News, Calabasas said Edison planned to underground power lines along approximately 2.5 miles of Cold Canyon Road. The project is part of a wildfire-mitigation effort intended to reduce risks from overhead wires during high winds and storms and improve electrical reliability.
What residents may encounter
The city warned that construction could bring temporary road closures, traffic impacts and scheduled electrical outages. A city notice describing possible outages does not mean that a particular household has a confirmed outage today.
Residents along the corridor should review utility notices and follow any roadwork instructions from crews. If a power interruption is scheduled, affected customers should rely on notification from Edison and check the utility’s official outage information rather than social media speculation.
What’s the timetable?
The city listed work beginning in August 2026 and anticipated continuing through December 2026. These are estimates subject to utility coordination and field conditions; they should not be mistaken for a verified completion announcement.
Questions about the power system and current project notices can be directed to Southern California Edison. City news updates are available from the official Calabasas newsletter.
